Garrett is so Literal

Mom: Okay Guys we need to pick up everything off the living room floor.
Garrett: We can't
Mom: Yes you can. I need everything picked up so that I don't trip.
Garrett: But Mom, we can't pick up the couch, or the chair, or the tv stand they are too heavy.

So I laughed at his logic. He got a little upset that I laughed at him. I really don't think he is trying to be funny, or disobedient. He just takes what you say literally.
Another example:

Mom: Kids it is time to go, Go get in the car.
Garrett: Mom, we don't have a car.
Mom: Get in the car, please.
Garrett: We have a van.
Mom: Fine, go get in the VAN.

Thank you, Mom.

My mom left for WV today. She has helped me tremendously with my kids for the past 6 weeks. She came and spent a week with while I was in the hospital, she took the kids back to WV for over 3 weeks and then she brought them back for another week and helped me with the kids. So thank you, Mom, for all that you did to help me and my kids.

Fireworks for Your Birthday

Jeremy loves that his birthday is on the the 24th of July because here in Utah it is also Pioneer Day. So he usually gets his birthday off work, plus you can light fireworks. It is so fun to do the fireworks and sparklers with several of the cousins.

So there were about 20 people at Jeremy's birthday party.
Bryan, Sariah, Cynthia, Isabella, Hannah, Malachi, Carrie, Josh, Samantha
Kristi, Andrew, Mandy, Alex
Jeremy, Robin, Olivia, Garrett, Devin
Violet and Jennifer
and then a few other people came just to watch the fireworks.
It has been a very busy weekend.

Happy Birthday Jeremy!!!

Fun with the Cousins

Brian's Family and Kristi's Family came to spend some time with us. The kids love playing with each other.

Devin loves being with everyone.
The girls loved playing in Olivia's room.

The boys loved jumping off the couch onto the air mattress.
Devin and Carrie were enjoying "playing connect four" which is put in all the pieces, dump them out and do it again.

Making Flowers

Jeremy took the our kids and the cousins to Thanksgiving point to make Glass Flowers. You had to be at least 5 to make a flower. I think all the kids really had a good time making the flowers and the flowers will be ready to pick up on Monday.
Andrew Runyan
Hannah Brunner
Malachi Brunner
Garrett Brunner
Cynthia Brunner
Isabella Brunner
Olivia Brunner
Mandy Runyan also made a flower but we didn't get a picture.

Going to the park

So Early in the morning is the best time to go to the park before it gets to hot. But the kids were still really hot and thirsty and we had to convince them to stay for awhile. Next time I will bring water to drink. Garrett is so sweet he wants to help push me in the wheelchair. The only problem is that he doesn't watch where he is going and doesn't stay on the path.

Back to the Grind

Now that the kids are back they are doing chores again. They get a little money to help with the extra chores. Devin loves to help too.

Devin's Train

My dad made these really cute trains for Garrett and Olivia with their names on them. So while Devin was out in WV I asked my Dad to make one for Devin too. So he did and my mom brought it back with her. They are so cute and Devin really does like playing with it.

Snow Cones

The kids came back on Monday and on Tuesday and Jeremy took them to get snow cones. I love going to the snow cone stands. It just one of the fun things of summer. Devin didn't and I didn't go because he was was having a 2 year old moment. But I am sure we will go again to get more snow cones.

Cone of Shame

Jack finally got fixed. He would look at us like he was saying "What did I ever do to you?"

Disappointed

So here is the newest x-ray. It looks just like the last x-ray.

I went to the Dr. yesterday and he took new x-rays to see if it has healed. I was hoping that the crack that you see would be mostly gone that new bone growth had happened and that I would only be on crutches a couple more weeks. But that is not the case. There has been no new growth or if there has been any it is unnoticeable. So my leg is not healing as fast as I wanted. I remember when I was a kid I broke my arm and I wore a cast for 4 weeks and when the cast came off the arm was a little weak but healed. I was expecting the same thing to happen here. So I was very disappointed when this was not the case. The Dr. said to continue Physical Therapy, that I could start going to a pool and walking in the pool, to try and use my bike to help strengthen it. He also said I really need to get my knee range of motion to at least 90 degrees. I am only at 78. Then come back in 6 weeks. I cried all the way home and I have been upset about it since. So I still have a broken a leg! I will definitely be starting my new job on crutches. So I am disappointed, frustrated, and upset.

Last Day

The Brunner kids are leaving with Mom tomorrow - She's taking them back home to Utah and she'll stay out there for 10 days. The time has passed so quickly... but looking back, we've done a lot together. More than the places we've gone, the time we've spent together has been a tremendous joy and blessing. Olivia wanted to leave her outline waving good-bye. I caught this "chalking" and had to chuckle...
as a final celebration of our time together, we lit sparklers before it was time to say good-bye.
but earlier in the day -- Devin took his bath the ol' fashioned way. The other day the kids were SO dirty that Mom didn't want them inside - so they bathed a few kids this way. Not sure if Devin will be able to enjoy a bath inside when he gets back home.
Robin asked that we try to take some nice group pictures with Mom and Dad both with all of her kids and we tried really hard. This is a few of the better one's that we got. It's hard enough to try to get good pictures with everyone looking all at the same time, and then you realize... the sun is right behind the tall guy's head! but we got a few that turned out nice...
never could get them ALL to look and smile at the same time, but today -- this was my favorite photo:
and then Devin was DONE! so we gots what we got!
"Aunts can give hugs like a mother, keep secrets like a sister and love like a friend!" I'm going to miss these guys when they are back in Utah -- I'm keeping my two here even though they really wanted to fly out when Mom leaves tomorrow to return the brunner kids... It was sad leaving tonight. Olivia had made really sweet cards that she gave to the boys. All the kids were hugging eachother. It's so nice that they get to bond with eachother and spend this time together. Only Garrett didn't seem to understand why this was so sad... "because", he explained, "we're going to be back next summer!"
