What's Been Going On

My camera has been not working properly for the last couple of weeks. It takes pictures and then won't save them on the memory card, it won't turn on and then it won't turn off. This is very frustrating because there are pictures that I have lost and there are things I wanted to take pictures of but couldn't.

So here is what has been happening in our world this past couple of weeks.

1. I started back to work and the kids went back to the sitters house. I am teaching computers again this year . I am trying to figure out how to keep things fun and exciting since I teach the same kids basically the same things as last year. (The core didn't change and it is very similar in every grade.)

2. Jeremy is going between two schools this year. He has a crazy schedule and it hard to keep up with what meeting he has for which school and what meetings he has for his church calling. He is very busy.

2. Olivia started 3rd grade and she is loving it. So far she hasn't had any homework.

3. My Granny passed away and Jennifer and I flew to WV to attend her funeral. We only were able to stay a few days. I am so grateful to a friend who let us use his frequent flyer miles to help us out.

4. Garrett started Kindergarten. His teacher is Ms. Spencer. He loves it. He was so excited to go to school. I was a little worried but he so far he is doing great.

5. I bought some peaches from a fruit stand and last night Jeremy and I canned 7 quarts of peaches. I also bought some apples that I will make applesauce and can.

6. We are miraculously getting things out of garden. We have enjoyed a few carrots and tomatoes. We got enough tomatoes that Jeremy made homemade salsa.

7. Jeremy and I didn't do well on the "living healthier" over the summer so we are both trying to be healthier and eat better and maybe still lose some weight.

8. I am still in Physical Therapy. Since school started I am going twice a week. My Physical Therapist says I am doing really well. I have several exercises that I do at home 2-3 time a day. I will be seeing the Dr. for a follow up visit next week.

9. Devin has learned to climb!!!!! He climbs on the table on the counters and he is trying to climb out of his bed! He can move the chairs around to climb on things too. The other day I found him standing on the bathroom sink, reaching for something on top to the shelf by the sink. Also he can now open refrigerator doors. He loves to get out things and throw them like the eggs, he likes to get out the butter and smear it in the carpet, he likes to dump out the juice, but mostly he likes to help himself to snacks. So you may find an apple with a couple of bites in it. He keeps us BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

So there is what is going on in our World.

My Sweet Granny

My sweet granny who has been suffering from Alzheimer's for a while passed away in her sleep last night. This is a picture that was taken on the Fourth of July. This is a picture of all of their grandchildren except one.

I loved my grandmother very much. When we were little when we would go and visit her she would take us to the movies, she let us help can apples and green beans, we would go for walks/bike rides. After every visit she would give each of us a dollar. We all loved going and spending a week at their house and staying up late and eating ice cream.

I remember one Christmas my grandmother got a new bike. She was so excited to see the box she jumped on the box and pretended to ride it. It was funny.

I will miss her.

Squeezing in more summer fun

Aquarium

We wanted to take the kids and do something fun before summer ended. So we decided to take them to the aquarium in Sandy. The kids had a good time. Devin was fascinated. They all liked the ray exhibit where you got to pet the rays.

Farm Country
Yesterday I took the kids to Thanksgiving Point to Farm Country. We went with some friends. The kids loved petting the baby horses and cows. They also really enjoyed the pony ride. I think I even heard Devin at one point say "horse". We are sure going to miss summer.

Wouldn't be summer without

SNOWCONES.
'

For family home evening on Monday we did a short lesson and then for the treat we headed out and got snow cones. Everyone got one. Devin especially loved his. He was really sticky and messy. It was fun sitting outside eating our snow cones. I wish I would have brought my camera.

New ways of getting around

Since I am on crutches the kids love to try and walk on them too. Jeremy lowered them so they weren't quite so tall for them. But they think it is fun to play with them, carry them around, move them out of my reach. Devin's new way of getting around is trying to convince Olivia to carry him on her back.

The good news is though I am now walking around the house a little bit without the crutches. But I still use them anytime I go out.

Happy Helpers

To get my kids to help more around the house. I have started to write down things to do on a slip of paper and then putting them in a cup. Then the kids pick out something to do. For everyone they pick out and complete I give them a dime. So here they are washing windows and loving it. It helps to teach them responsibility and it helps me get things done.

Friday Night Date Night

Jeremy and I went on date to Tucanos Brizilian Grill for our date. This is a great place. They have waiters that bring different meats around to the table and you can have as a much as you like. My favorite was the roasted turkey wrapped in bacon. I love the grilled pinapple too. Plus there is a great salad bar that goes with it as well. Jeremy and I ate way to much, but it was so good.

Afterward we went to See the new Harry Potter movie. We really liked the movie but we still think these movies are not for small kids.

Of course, no date is complete without stopping for ice cream. We stopped and got shakes at Arctic Circle. They make really good shakes I got a peanut butter cup shake and Jeremy got a fudge brownie shake.

It is nice to have a night that we do something together without the kids. The kids stayed with Grandma and Jennifer and they had a fun time playing and eating pizza. I don't think they even missed us.

Fun in the sun!

We filled up our little pool outside in the front yard. They didn't really want to play in our pool because the neighbors across the street had a water slide blown up and squirt guns. So they wanted to go over there. The neighbors were nice enough to let them come play. They played there for a while then migrated to another neighbor's house to jump on her trampoline, then they migrated over to my to play in the pool. At one point there were 13 kids playing. It is great to live in a neighborhood where everyone is so friendly and the kids love to play with each other.
