New Dinner Recipe

I had left over turkey from Sunday dinner and was trying to decide what to do with it.  I was at the store and saw raspberry vinaigrette.
It sounded really good. So I decided to make a salad that used raspberry vinaigrette. The salad had:

Romaine Salad Mix
Almond Slices
Chopped Strawberries
Cooked Turkey
Grated Mozzarella Cheese
Topped with Raspberry Vinaigrette.

It was so tasty! We decided that this was going to be a keeper at our house. Well a keeper a least for Jeremy and me.  We are thinking next time try a different type of cheese.

Do you have any good recipes that use raspberry vinaigrette?

TV on Netflix

After the kids go to bed Jeremy and I have been watching some TV series on Netflix Instantly.  We finished the series called Firefly.  At first we started watching it because we really like Nathan Fillion from the series Castle.   We really enjoyed this series even if it only lasted 1 season.  It is about space cowboys who do illegal jobs and help people along the way.

Now we are watching a series called Eureka.  This is a show where a new sheriff comes to a town that is scientifically advanced and all the citizens are geniuses and all the problems that this causes.  So far we are enjoying this show too.

If you want to watch some good shows we would recommend these two.
Are there any shows that you like to watch?

In the News

Jeremy's school was in the news again.  The governor's wife came and presented 500 books to his school.

Kitchen Helper

Jeremy was making Calizones for dinner and as soon as he started to roll the dough Devin ran in and wanted to help.  He was having a great time.  He loves helping in the kitchen especially if there is flour involved.
Jere had some dough left over and he made the cutest little cinnamon rolls.

Butterflies

Once again we ordered caterpillars. The kids were excited to watch them grow and turn into cocoons and finally into Painted Lady Butterflies. Hearing Devin say "cohoon" was super cute.
We released our butterflies on Sunday after church.  It was really neat when Olivia got one of the 3 butterflies to land on her finger.
Garrett tried getting one on his finger too but didn't have any success.
We hope our beautiful butterflies survived.  An hour after we let them go we had a really bad hail storm that came out of nowhere.

We really enjoying having butterflies every spring.

Singing and Dancing

The last two nights have been pretty busy. Olivia had her choir concert and she had her Spanish La Fiesta Dance Festival. She did a great job in both performances.

Choir Performance:

Devin was getting a little bored and antsy.  But he loved to clap for her when a song ended.

La Fiesta:
She is quite the talented and enthusiastic dancer.

You can see her teacher Sra. Luiz dancing in the background in the blue skirt.

She is beautiful and her costume is very pretty!
Hard to believe we are almost at the end of the year and soon she will be a 5th grader.

Pet Worm

It has been raining a lot lately.  With the rain we have noticed more and more worms.  Yesterday there was a really big worm in the garage.  As we were leaving to go to school Devin lovingly picks up the worm and wants to take it to the babysitter's house.  I told him no he couldn't take it.  He then looks up at me and says, "Mom, he is my pet."  I still told him no.  So he went and put him on the sidewalk.  I told him to put him in the dirt.  He said, "I want to be able to see him later."  When we got home he ran to the sidewalk to look for his pet which luckily made it back to the dirt so he wasn't there.  Devin with a very sad voice asked, "Where's my pet worm?"  I told him it went back into the ground where it lives.  He was so sad  that Olivia went out in the back yard and found another one for him that he played with for a long time but eventually let it go too.

Sneaky little Liar

Devin really likes to play my ipad. Yesterday when it was time to get off and I took it from him after several times of telling him to put it down. He throw a fit. So I told him that he couldn't play the ipad anymore that day. Of course that didn't keep him from asking. I still said no. The other kids were downstairs getting ready for bed and I went into the kitchen to get a drink. I came back to the living room and noticed that one Devin had disappeared, two my ipad was missing. I started looking for Devin. He usually hides in my room but he wasn't there. Then I looked in his room and notice a big blanket. I said, "Devin are you in here?" He replied, "Yes." He came out of the blanket just enough for me to see his head. I asked, "Devin, do you have my ipad?" He said, "No I don't have it." I then grabbed the blanket and looked under the it and sure enough there was my ipad. He just laughed.
Then I went and plugged it in in my room because the battery was so low. When Jeremy got home from scouts all the kids were supposed to be in bed. Everyone was quiet. Jeremy went back to our room and what do you think he found our door locked and then when he opened the door there was Devin playing the ipad on my bed with the sound turned all the way down. Jeremy took the ipad and put him back to bed.

He is sneaky.

Dunk Me

Lucky kids at Jeremy's school who earned at least 10 dollars for the walk-a-thon got a ticket to throw a ball at Jeremy in the Dunking Booth. Let's just say there were a lot of kids who got tickets to try to dunk him. And he got dunked plenty. Wish I could have thrown at ball a two. : )

2011: 14 Years of Marriage, for better and for worse.
Here is to many more years.

I was looking for a recent picture of the two of us but we honestly don't have very many of us together.

We celebrated by taking a night off.  Jenn watched the kids and we went out to dinner at the Olive Garden, watched the movie Thor, which was a pretty good.  Then we stayed the night at the Anniversary Inn.

Today Jeremy took the day off and we went to Walmart, Costco, Jiffy lube, did laundry, fixed dinner, and went out to lunch at Zupas.  Just normal every day stuff but that is life and we were happy to spend time together.

Muddy

Who could have made these really cute and dirty prints on our mailbox?
One Hint:
Gotta love the outfit!

We were spraying down the windows and siding on Saturday to clean them a little. Devin then figured out how to turn on the hose himself, spray it into the flower bed, make mud and then play in it.

Last Weekend

We went to the pool and then the park last weekend with Jennifer. We had a really good time. Our kids would love to go swimming everyday. They can't wait for Summer and Grandma and Grandpa Doolittle's house to be able to swim everyday.

Afterward we went to the park and played with our new summer toys that Jeremy got at the silent auction at his school.

Mario Song Live

I know you have been waiting for Garrett's performance of the Mario Song.  Here it is... Tell your friends.... It will be the next be hit...

Trampoline Sleepover

Olivia and Garrett decided they wanted to have sleepover outside on the trampoline.  They tool out every pillow and blanket they have.  The funny thing is Olivia came in at midnight and slept inside then got up early and went back out to the trampoline before Garrett got up to make it look like she slept out there all night.  Now they want to sleep out there again.   Devin wants to sleep out there too but I am not sure I want him to sleep out there.

Performance Day

Garrett's music teacher does a performance day with her students. They can choose any type of musical talent and perform it in front of the class. Garrett decided he wanted to write his own Mario Song and sing it to his class.  He wrote the song and he will perform it on Friday.   I am going to see if I can record him singing his song.
The Mario Song

Mario and Lugi are a good TEAM

Huff and puff

Devin dumped pretzels on the floor. I couldn't get mad at him because he was so cute. He was taking the the pretzels and building a house of them. Then he would say, "little pig let me in" then he would start to huff and puff and blow the house down. Then he would eat the pretzels and then he would do it again. He has quite the imagination.

Left or Right

We have been noticing somethings about Devin. He eats with his left hand, he colors with his left hand, he used the iPad with his left hand. I read that you can tell if a person is left handed to watch to see what hand they use to pick up something. So we tested him a few times and watched him pick up a few things and every time he used his left hand.

So is he left handed or right handed? Only time will tell, I guess. But we think he is left handed. Which is slightly funny because neither Jeremy nor I are left handed, and his grandparents aren't left handed. Where did he get this from if it is hereditary?
