Devin: He walked outside in the morning and you could still see a few stars. He comes back inside and said, "The stars are twinkly and I made a wish." Jere asked, "What did you wish for?" He replied, "That I can go swimming in a river." (I think he is missing WV.)

If he made it he would cheer and say, "Yeah, that was good shot." He threw me a towel and I caught it and he cheered again, "Yeah, that was a good catch." He also calls the dish towels "baby towels" and it is his job to put them away.

Canyon
Yesterday we went up the American Fork Canyon to look at the changing leaves. We packed a picnic dinner. We have been wanting to do this for years but never seemed to get around to it or we would go to late and the leaves had already fallen.
We are so glad we went. The weather was perfect and as Garrett said, "So glad we came up so we could all these AMAZING things."
We drove up a dirt road to Silver Lake. It was fun skipping rocks, climbing on the rocks and looking at all the animal tracks in the mud.

Devin's Lesson From the Fire Station
Devin went to the fire station today with his sitter. He really had a good time. He came home wearing hat and telling me all about the things he learned.
Here is what the learned in his own words:

My Story of Devin
I have a story about Devin this morning as well. After sleeplessly tossing and turning in my own bed I got up to sleep on the couch. When I passed by Devin's room I noticed he wasn't under any blankets so I covered him up. He must have noticed because a minute after laying down on the couch he came and joined me. He whispered, "I love you Dad," and then went back to sleep.
The next thing I know Devin is standing next the couch saying, "I wet my pants." He was wearing a pull-up but apparently my son is gifted in the bladder-capacity department because he peed all over his pajamas, our couch, and ME! Good morning!

Broke my heart
Today when I went to drop off Devin at the sitter's house. He said he wanted to stay with me. Then when I dropped him off he gave me several hugs and kisses. He wanted to give me more but I had to go and I knew he was stalling. So the sitter shut the door. She has a a big window that faces the front of the house. He had his face pressed against the window and crying as I pulled away. I wanted to run back up there and give him another hug but I knew that would make things worse. But it broke my heart to drive away and see his little face crying in the window.

Wants to go so bad
The kids ride their bike to school and every morning Devin wishes he could go with them. He runs out and wants hugs and kisses from them, wants to grab his bike and ride with them or he wants Olivia to take him on his bike. It is hard to be the littlest.

Church Talk
Today I was asked to give a talk in Church. It has been a long time since I have given a talk probably four years. I was asked to talk on the Roles of Christ. I was a little overwhelmed at such a large topic but I started researching and thinking and praying about it and I put in a few personal experiences that I kept feeling like I should share.
If you would like to read it go to the link below, I put the talk on Google Docs.

Soccer
Olivia really wanted to play soccer again this year. We didn't sign her up last year because I was still on crutches and didn't want to do any extra running around. But she is loving soccer. She is a really good defensive player.
She is always really close to the action.
This is my favorite shot!
We took our bigger lens so we could get some better close up actions shots.

This is Olivia getting a pass from her really good friend Celestine who is also our neighbor.
This picture is too funny. Not sure what they are doing but neither is the kid with the ball.

68 2nd Graders
Yep, I have 68 7 year olds in my computer lab. The other specialty teacher was absent and her sub had not shown up. Since the teacher taking them to her had a sub, I told her to leave them with me. I know I am crazy! I had 2 kids on each computer. And even though they were wearing headphones, the noise level in the room was really loud. I am just glad that both classes were well behaved.

Bag of Socks
Yes, this is a real bag of socks. Why do I have a bag of socks in my living room. GARRETT!
Garrett has decided that it is too hard to find his socks in his dresser (even though he has a drawer just for socks) so he gathered up all his socks that were probably all over his room and brought them upstairs and put them in a bag and put them behind the couch. Now in the mornings when he needs to get his socks on he goes and grabs two socks out of the bag (doesn't matter if they are matching or not) Whala and he is ready to go. It has definitely sped up his getting ready in the morning. When we did laundry this weekend he gathered up the clean socks and put them back in the bag. As long as they stay in the bag behind the couch I am okay with the plan.

Remembering
Ten years ago, our country was attacked. I remember dropping off my daughter who at the time was 11 months old off at the babysitter it was around 7:30 in the morning Utah time. The sitter had the t.v. on and the most horrible things were on the tv. I couldn't believe what was happening. The World Trade Center in New York was on fire from a plane crashing into it. I ran back upstairs to our apartment and told Jeremy to turn on the tv. We just sat there stunned, shocked, horrified at what we were witnessing. I was so scared for our future for the future of our country. I knew things would never be the same. I wanted to go back and get my daughter and hug her tight.
I drove to work still in shock. Everyone at work was in a somber mood. And any chance we got we were watching the news hoping and praying for survivors. I remember having a talk with my third graders about our country and the things that had happened. I had a student who was absent who was on a flight to Disneyland. I was scared for him. We didn't know if there would be more attacks or where they would be. Thankfully he was alright.
It has been 10 years and our country is still strong and free thanks to those in our military who fight for our freedoms. I am blessed to live in this country where I can work, have choices, and raise my children. I am so thankful that my children still live in free country where they can have the same opportunities.

What is it?
Is it an apricot?
Is it a plum?
No, It is a PLUOT!
What is a pluot: It is a hybrid plant between a plum and an apricot which equals a sweet, juicy, and delicious plout. If you haven't had a chance to try them I would highly recommend them.

Swimming on Labor Day
Being the water people that we are, we couldn't resist one more swimming adventure on Monday. The kids had no school. The weather was cool in the 80's and it was overcast and a little windy but we went swimming anyways. We went to the Scera Pool in Orem. It was like a little water park. It had slides, dumping buckets, a splash park, diving boards. The kids were in heaven.
Summer we will miss you. Please come again soon!
Devin going down the little kid slide.
Olivia coming down the big slide
Coming out of the slide!
And SPLASH!
Garrett coming down the slide. He was so funny he screamed all the way down his first time and he wouldn't lay down he wanted to sit up and he would spread his legs and arms trying to control it.
Coming out of the slide!
And SPLASH! I love how big this splash is!

The splash park was fun but the water so cold!
