Grotto Falls

 

One of our favorite places is Grotto Falls.   It is up Payson canyon.  It is a short easy hike and then afterwards we stop at park for a picnic lunch.   It was green and pretty up the canyon.  The waterfall had more water than we excepted and it was nice and cool to walk on the trail in the shade. 

Up the canyon

 We decided to to spend the day up the canyon.  It was such a nice day.  We got there around 10:30 and stayed to about 4.  We ate hot dogs and s'mores and other junk food that I shouldn't have eaten.  Andi played in the stream and Jere and sat down there with our feet in the water.  The kids enjoyed the hammock.  We played some board games.   It was nice to be outside and enjoying the beautiful canyon.   I think we all took a nap at some point.  I can imagine doing this several times this summer! 

End of school year water party

 I had several neighbors come over for a water party.  I think there were about 18 kids there.  They played in the pool, played with bubbles and sidewalk chalk, they  played on the trampoline with the water house, and I had a small pool filled up and added the water jellies in there.  I think it was a hit. People brought treats to share.   It was a fun day.   I wish more parents would have shown up.  

Last Day of School

 This has been a great year at Springside.  I have loved having Andi at my school this year.  She is so full of love and energy.  She had the best teacher this year, Mrs. Nelson.  I am so grateful for all of her work.  I had several opportunities to go in and help in her classroom, and do some fun integration with technology with her class as well.    I can't believe that she is already out of first grade.  Times goes so fast.   

Blue Hair

 The students at my school earned a reading reward.  If they read so many books then all the teachers would die their hair blue.   I used blue hairspray on mine.

AF canyon

We went to AF canyon today. To enjoy being out in nature.  I always tend to pick the coldest, windiest and rainy days to go and do this.  But still enjoyed the beautiful ride. 

Devin was in the car, and didn't want to get out since he was only wearing shorts.

Cold Stone Reward

 Andi earned a cold stone reward for reading all 600 sight words and 600 fry phrases.  We have worked hard on it all year.   She passed off the last one on Thursday.  She has turned into such an awesome little reader.  She is reading on a Level L which is above grade level.   She love Princess in Black, Heidi Hecklebeck, Owl diaries, Unicorn books.   She doesn't like dragon books.  

So we went to Cold Stone to celebrate.   Also Devin had straight A's and Garrett had  mostly A's and B's.   

Baby Quail

 

Devin has enjoyed his Agriculture class.  They got to hatch baby quail and Devin got to hold them.  They are pretty cute. 

Animal Report

 Andi gave an animal report about Jaguaars.  I got to come in and watch her give her report.  I think she did a really good job.  

Jaguar's are large and small cats with black spots and they have tan color fur and black whiskers.  Jaguar's eat deer, fish, turtles, and wild-pigs. Jaguars live in North and South America, in the forests, grasslands, and shrubby areas.  A jaguar needs forests, food and water.  Jaguar's predators are ranchers that kill but but don't eat them . I choose a baby jaguar because they look cute. 

Another Day at the Gardens

 Jeremy and I for our Anniversary decided to go back to the Gardens.  We took the day off on Monday and we went to Thanksgiving point to enjoy being outside.  We walked around the gardens and just enjoyed being with each other.  We ate lunch at the Trellis Cafe and we had a table outside.  It was a beautiful day.  The gardens weren't crowded so we really got to appreciate it.   

Garrett Interviews Himself

 Garrett had to do a final project about what he learned in his English class this year. This is what we came up with:

24 years

 

We celebrate our 24th anniversary.  We went out to dinner to Rodizo on Saturday.  We had fondo and homemade cheesecake on Sunday, and on Monday, we are both took off work and we are going to go the the Thanksgiving point gardens.  

I feel very blessed to be married to my best friend.   He is supportive and I love him.   Thanks for 24 years.  I look forward to the next 24 years.

Andi sure loves dance.  This was her final concert for this year.  I put her in dance again next year.   I love seeing her enthusiasm as she dances. 

Devin's Concert

Devin had a band concert this week too, but where we were sitting we couldn't see him.   I am going to get a picture of him with his Euphonium tomorrow.   He didn't love band, but he did get better.  Next year he will try to be on the stage crew to help with concerts and performances but not be a performer.

Garrett had his final band concert.  He played in two bands.  The first was the concert band, and the 2nd was the trombone band.  It was fun to see him play with his trombone group.  He saw them practicing one day at the beginning of the year and asked if he could join them.  He really likes this group.   It was a good concert.
