Sayings We Didn't Want to Forget

Devin: Goes into the room with all the Legos and starts stomping on Olivia and Garrett's creations and then dumps out all the Legos from the tub. The other two are yelling at him to stop. He says, "I am little, I don't know better." (Oh yes he does) Aug. 2011

Garrett: After the first day of school. I asked Garrett if he liked his teacher. He replied, "Yes, But I don't know if I really like her yet." Aug. 2011

Devin: "Mommy, can I play on your Tie-pad." I say no. He says, "Mommy, can I play on your Pie-Pad then."

Devin:
While talking about safety for FHE we were talking about not picking up sharp things you could see on the ground like knives, needles and Devin shouts, "and Sharks!"

Garrett: At the theater, Dad asks, "Garrett why are you wearing a coat it is hot." Garrett replies, "So I could sneak in Mario and Luigi." Aug. 2011

Garrett: At the park he says, "Mom, can I take the long cut home?" Meaning the long way around the park. Aug. 2011

Garrett: Grandma asked if he would miss her, he pauses and says, "I don't know yet." July 2011

Devin: As he climbs into my lap first thing in the morning, "Mom, I love you but not your stinky breath." July 2011

Garrett: Yelling as he is running and jumping into the little blow up pool, "Slip and Slide!" July 2011

I can do it myself.

Olivia now wants to fix her own hair every morning. Her friend showed her how to use a curling iron. Then with a little help from me she is getting pretty good at it. She also wants to grow her bangs out. So each morning she has to pin her bangs out of her face. My baby is using a curing iron? And she wants to get her ears pierced. And she thinks that I am embarrassing. She is just growing up way too fast. I thought I had a couple more years until she thought I was embarrassing her.

The last weekend before school

What better way to spend the last weekend before school starts than with cousins. Kristi brought her kids up here then she went and ran a marathon in Park City. Vickie and Earl came to help with her kids. We played with legos, pirate ships, went to a primary water party and then came back and swam in our little pool. It was a great day. Wish they could have stayed longer.
Castles and Pirate Ship Battles.

Andrew, Alex, Garrett, Olivia, Mandy

Making a volcano come out of his head.

Mandy ready to squirt!

Alex and Devin: Who will be their next target? It is all fun until someone gets squirted in the face.

Andrew, Garrett, Mandy, Devin and Alex!
Olivia had a busy weekend and went to two birthday parties! It was a nice way to spend the weekend.

Art Class

I put the kids in art class this summer. It was a week long for 2 hours each day. It was at our neighbor's house down the street. They walked to her house and did art in her in back yard.  Each day they did a different art project.  They made masks, painted, water colored, drew self portraits, and made mosaics.  They had a really fun time. Both of them enjoy art.
Here are there masks.  Garrett made a Yoshi mask.

Olivia's art work.

Olivia's self portrait.

Garrett's art work.

Garrett's self portrait.  Yes his self portrait is wearing a Mario hat.

After art class they drew more dragons.  These are Olivia's.  She has decided that Dragons are her thing like Mario is Garrett's thing.
Devin wanted to go too, but he was too young.  I enjoyed art class because it gave the older kids something to do that they enjoyed, Devin took a nap while they were gone and I got to relax and enjoy a good book. : )

FLARP

Jeremy took the kids to the dollar store and let them buy a few things with their own money.  Olivia bought flarp (putty that makes farting noising). She was experimenting with it and discovered that if you have it stretched out on your hand and your blow into it, it will create a bubble.   The kids love this toy but it isn't my favorite because it seems to always find a way to get stuck in the carpet.

Herriman Lake

Who knew that there was a lake with a beach here in Utah that you could go and swim at for free. It is in Herriman. It is only about 30 minutes from our house. You drive through a residential area and you wonder if there really is a lake but then you get near the top and there is this cute little reservoir.  The scenery is different than in WV, and the water is colder but it was still a lot of fun to go swimming with the kids.

The water was so cold you really only got in when you got really hot and then you only stayed in for a little bit then got out to warm back up.

No Cavities

I took all three kids by myself to see the Dentist. Olivia was a little nervous because last time she went to the dentist she had 2 teeth pulled and it was a little traumatic for her. But all three kids behaved well and all three kids had NO CAVITIES. That is what I like to hear.
Garrett doesn't really like people touching him but he cooperated.  He had sealant put on two of his back teeth to help prevent cavities.
Devin did really good he was excited for them to look at his teeth.  He doesn't like me helping him brush his teeth at home. Didn't get a picture of Olivia because I was going in between rooms with the two boys.

Snow Cone Break

All three kids got root beer flavored.

Jenn got a berry blast and I got a strawberry daiquiri.

Wouldn't be summer break without going and getting snow cones.   It has been a really hot day, Jenn came over to visit so we decided to go and get snow cones! It was a cool refreshing treat!  My kids want us to by a snow cone ice machine so they can sell them to their friends.  A couple of other kids in the neighborhood do that and they want to make money too.  They also asked if they could go ask people if they could wash their cars.

Progressive Bone Growth

I went back to the doctor's today.  He said that I had progressive bone growth which means that the bone growth is getting thicker and healing but it is not all the way healed.  The bone has still  a crack. The doctor watched me walk and asked if I walked with a limp all the time. And the answer is YES! He asked about the pain.  I still live with pain everyday.  Sometimes the pain is worse than other days but the pain is always there.  I told him I was was concerned because the pain seems to be getting higher in the leg.  He said there was no indication that there was a problem on the x-ray.  He said that if the pain gets worse or it gets to the point it is unbearable to contact him and they will do a bone scan which gives more detail of the bone to make sure there isn't a weak spot in the bone that could lead to another fracture.  But he thought that it looked good and he thought that I was walking well even though I limp.  He said to keep walking, swimming, doing water aerobics and being active.   He said to come back in 9 months to see him again.  So I am healing but slowly.

So I got good news but I just wish that the pain and the limping would go away but all in time.

Our pool

We love playing in the water. If we aren't at the splash park, city pool, we are in our front yard playing in our own little pool and bucket. They squirt each other with water guns and play in the hose. We are sad that summer is coming to an end and we won't get to play in water everyday.

Action Shots
Olivia doing a back handstand into the pool,

Garrett doing "Slip and Slide" into the pool.

Devin jumping into the pool.

The funniest thing is them filling up this bucket and sitting in it!  Yes he is wearing a swim trunks!
We are keeping the sun screen people in business.  I try to keep sunscreen on them when playing outside.   Even with 50 sunscreen we all have really nice tans!

Lehi Outdoor Pool

Summer is a time for swimming and we spend as much time in the water that we possibly can.   We met Jenn at the outdoor pool on this hot August Day.  They had a new toy at the pool.
Garrett spent most of his time at the rock wall trying to get to the top.  I asked him if he thought it was the funnest thing,  He replied, "No, but it is the funnest thing here."

Olivia going off the high dive!

She made it to the top of the wall.  Look at those long monkey legs.

While Jenn was there, Devin only wanted to play with her.  She only could stay an hour.

Afterward when it was time to go, they were all laying on the concrete to warm up even though it was plenty hot outside.

Splash Park

There is really cool splash park in Highland that is free. It has fountains and a river with rocks that the kids can run and play and splash through the water. We took our kids and my friend's kids. They had a really great time.
Livvy and Taylor.  They are really good friends and they had a good time here too.  It wasn't too young for them.

Kassi and Devin.  Kassi is another one of Devin's best friends.  He loves to be with her.

Garrett and Landon.  These two are best friends.  Since we have been home they have spent a lot of time together.  They really missed each other.
