Cooking and a Super D.

Olivia has decided she loves to bake desserts.  She made these cookies for Family Home Evening.  She wants to make something every night, but I have to tell her that we don't need desserts every night.
Super D:  He is wearing a scrap of fabric and Olivia made him a mask.

I love the that he is also wearing his Superman Shirt.  Devin says "I loves that guy" even though he has never seen a Superman movie or show.

And Devin also loves to help in the Kitchen, especially if it involves making pizza or desserts.

First Pine Wood Derby

Garrett made his first pine wood derby car!  Jeremy and Garrett both worked on the car.  Garrett wanted a Mario car.

He was so excited!  He looks pretty handsome in his uniform.

He earned his map belt loop.

And he earned his Bobcat!

Since he earned his bobcat he got his face painted.

Waiting for his car to race.

This was a pretty cool track to race the car.

Garrett's Car on the track.  He came in 2nd to last place and was a little sad but then he was just happy to race the car for fun afterward.

Ain't Going Paint No More

Devin got a piggy bank.  He got to paint it and decorate it.  He now loves earning money and coins to put in his piggy bank.  He didn't go to time out at the sitter's house so he earned a coin to put in his bank.
 SAINT PATRICK'S DAY

Jenn Came over on Saint Patrick's Day and we painted four leaf clovers.

Isn't this the sweetest picture of Jenn and Devin.

The kids love when she come over because she always has some artsy craft for them to do and they love it.

Finished Projects.

Making Cookies

Olivia decided that she wanted to learn how to cook. So we started with cookies and brownies. We talked about reading a recipe, what the things mean. So last night she wanted to make cookies. She pretty much made this cookies all by herself. She needed me to help her with a few things(like remembering to add the shorting, how much dough to use for each cookie, how far apart to put the cookies on the cookie sheet, and not putting hot cookies on top of other cookies.)She did a really good job and the cookies are soft and delicious!

I remember when I was first learning to cook, I was probably Olivia's age. Granny and Pappy were coming to visit and I wanted to make brownies to impress them. I guess I didn't want my mom's help. I used baking soda instead of baking powder, I added too much salt and I didn't set a timer so I baked them way too long. When it was time to serve the brownies they were rock hard! You couldn't even cut your knife through them. We had a pet duck at the time so we decided to break them and feed them to the duck. We through the brownies pieces into the water near the duck. The brownie piece sunk to the bottom of the stream and the duck just swam away not the least bit interested in the brownie pieces that we through to him.

Sleeping

For the last couple of nights, look what we found in our bed: DEVIN!  Last night when we went to bed the door was locked, so when we opened it up he was in there again.  I guess he locked the door so we couldn't get in and send him to his own bed.

Going to Neptune

There is a new park in Saratoga Springs. We went to the park on Saturday after Garrett's Basketball game. As you can see it has some pretty awesome things to play on. They thought it was a great park.

Unfortunately everyone else thought it was a great idea to go and try out the new park too. It was really busy. We still had a fun afternoon though.

Last Basketball Game

Garrett really wanted to make a basket. He hasn't made one all season. He has shot several times but never made it. He was getting a little upset that today was his last game and he still had not scored. But the last two minutes of the game, Garrett got the ball, dribbled it down the court, shot, and SCORED!!!! He was so excited and happy and everyone cheered for him.

They got medals at the  end of the game!  Garrett and Landon loved playing basketball together.

What do the little kids do during the game?  Play run around the pole, of course!

And that's 10 million

Jack and Jill

We got Jack and Jill on Netflix. We heard from my nephew, Zach, who is 11 that the movie was hilarious. That in the theater he laughed out loud the entire movie. Since he loved it so much my kids wanted to watch it. It was rated PG so we gave it a shot. Yes, there were a few funny parts but we ending up skipping chapters when the kids were in the kitchen popping popcorn just to make it end sooner. Devin and Garrett loved all the fart jokes and the slap stick comedy. Though in my opinion the movie should have been rated PG-13 for some of the crude humor.

However, the funniest part of the movie for us was when you see Adam Sandler putting cantaloups in his shirt. Devin then turned to me and asked, "Mom, do you put oranges in your shirt?"

Yeah, we all got a good laugh!

Activity Days

We have activity days twice a month. I am the leader over the 10 and 11 year old girls. I love it! I think it is fun to be with the kids and I like being with my daughter. Plus I like planning fun activities.

This activity we made chocolate scriptures and then we read a scripture then watched a short book animated story that went with the scripture.  We watched "Madam President" to go with the 12 article of faith, and we watched "Someone loves you Mr. Hatch to go with a scripture we read about love.   We were combining two holidays. While we were watching the movies we ate popcorn.

For this Activity we made Family History Totem poles.  The poles were to represent the girl, their parents and grandparents.  Part of this activity we did a timeline of inventions and had them guess which came first and then gave them a copy of their timelines and had them add their birthday, their parents birthdays, and their grandparents' birthday.
Isabell Soward, Marina River, Olivia, Celestine, Maddy Lambson, Sara Miller.  I have 18 girls on my list but this is a normal turnout.

Maddie Lambson, Olivia, and Celestine.  They are really good friends.
