Story of a Peanut Butter Jar

I buy food to take to the babysitter's house for Devin to eat.  She told me she needed more food so I went to the store and bought several things to take over to her including a small jar of peanut butter for the price of $3.99.  I took the food to her house but when I came to pick up Devin, he came out carrying the jar of peanut butter.  She told me she already had some from last time.  Devin thought she gave him the peanut butter to have as his very own.  He immediately went home and put the peanut butter on his dresser.  He didn't open it but he would show it to his friends when they came over, he would brag to his brother and sister about it that he had his very own jar of peanut butter that he wanted for himself.

Garrett decided that it would be cool to have his own jar of peanut butter so he told Devin he would buy it from him.   Devin thought about it and said $5 dollars.  Garrett said, "No Way, $1"   Devin thought that it wasn't it enough and countered with $3.  Garrett bargained for $2.  So Devin sold his very own jar of peanut butter to Garrett for $2 dollars.

Now Garrett has his very own jar of peanut butter that he doesn't want to share with anyone else.  So when his friend Landon came over  he very proudly showed his confused friend his jar of Peanut Butter.

Telescope

Jere got a telescope for Christmas.  But it has been too cold or too cloudy to use it.  The weather has finally started getting a little nicer and and there was supposed to be a comet that you could see this past week. So we took the telescope and set it up at my school because it is far enough away from the town that you don't get interference from the lights.

We didn't see the comet Panstarrs. This is picture we found.

We did see Jupiter though.  We also saw several stars and an airplane.  It was pretty cool!  We can't wait to take the telescope out again.  We can't figure out how to take a picture through the telescope yet so this is a picture we found.  But this is what we saw.

Basketball

Garrett really likes basketball and his season with the city just ended.

Funny story:  Garrett's team is either white or green but we never know which one.  So at yesterday's game he was wearing the green side but his team was white.  So he just takes off the jersey and underneath it another jersey that is white and he is ready to go.

Devin and I were having a conversation the other day.

Devin: Who will I marry?
ME: A girl.
Devin:  Then I will a the daddy and there will be three daddies in the house?
ME:  Three Daddies?
Devin: ME, Garrett and Daddy
ME: Well you will have you own house when you are daddy.
Devin:  Don't you remember that song we sing?
ME: What song?
Devin: You know the song about families being together forever.
Me: Yeah
Devin: SO we will be TOGETHER FOREVER in the same house.

Mobiles

I asked Jenn if she would come to activity days with me to show the girls how to do an art project.  She had them make a mobile.  The girls really liked it.  Though it took them a little longer to get it done.   I only had 6 out of 15 girls show up.

Neil Armstrong

The third graders at Garrett's School had a wax museum. He choose Neil Armstrong. He read 2 books about him. He had to make a poster, write a report, and dress up as Neil Armstrong.

Do you think they look alike?

 Here is his report:
Neil Armstrong
by Garrett Brunner

Birth and Childhood
Neil Armstrong was born on August 5th, 1930. He was born in Wapahoneta, Ohio. He worked in a donut shop. At night he made 1,300 donuts. While he was in high school, he formed a jazz band called the “Mississippi Moonshiners.”

Being a Pilot
Neil Armstrong got his pilot license before he got his driver’s license. He was a fighter pilot during the Korean War. After the war, he went to Purdue University. Then, he became a test pilot for the Navy. He almost died many times. He first flew into space in the Gemini 8 mission in 1966.

Being an Astronaut and Landing on the Moon
The Apollo 11 mission was the first attempt to land people on the Moon. Neil was the mission leader. They launched their 300 foot rocket on July 16, 1969. It took 4 days to get to the Moon. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the very first people to land on the Moon. When Niel Armstrong landed on the Moon, he thought it was a beautiful view to see the Earth from the Moon. They landed back on Earth on July 24th.

Contribution to our Country
Because Neil Armstrong landed on the Moon, many people in our country followed President Kennedy’s advice: “We choose to go to the Moon. Not because it is easy, but because it is hard.” They wanted to learn more about space and science. Many children wanted to grow up and be astronauts too.

Why I Chose Him
I chose Neil Armstrong because I really like space. And he was the very first astronaut to go to the Moon. He is one of my heroes.

Death
Neil Armstrong died on August 25, 2012.

My Birthday!

On Wednesday, the kids had a few surprises for me when I got up.  They had beautiful roses on the table with the table set so we could have strawberry shortcake for breakfast.  They also had some presents for me:  A new book, a new blender, and tape converter so you can listen to your devices through your tape deck in the car!

I love this picture!  I love my children.
That evening Jere said he would be in charge of  dinner.  He made Chicken Alfredo! It was very delish. Jenn made an apple pie for dessert.

Jenn, Olivia and I went and got pedicures.

At school my friend put balloons and banner on my door so everyone would know it was my birthday.  So every kid who saw me yelled "Happy Birthday to me."  She also got me an Amazon card so I could buy some more books.  She knows me well.

It was a great day.  The kids got along, I felt loved and appreciated.   Thanks Jeremy for all you did to make my day special.

February Sayings

We were watching the church video about putting on the armor of God. While the "good guys" are sitting at the edge of the river, Devin announces, "I like the bad guys."

Devin:
While getting a hair cut the lady is asking him questions: Here is their conversation
Lady: Do you have any brothers and sisters.
Devin: 1 Brother and 1 Sister
Lady: Are they older?
Devin: Yeah they are always both older.
Lady: Do you like being the youngest?
Devin: NO! I want to be the same size as them.

Devin:
As we are walking into the store there is a cigarette smell, Devin runs into the store with his nose covered, when we get inside, "PEE-WEW I covered my nose it smelled so bad."

Garrett: "What if they made a Mr. Ssippi (River)?"

Devin: "
Mom I am going to tell you the F word. I lofe you."

Devin: As he is eating his chicken nuggets shaped liked dinosaurs that are dipped in ketchup, "ROAR, HELP ME I AM BLEEDING." chomp!

Devin: "Mom, can I wear my spider man costume and my mask so I can scare Brittany." (The babysitter)

New Hat

I made Garrett a new hat.  I was experimenting using thicker yarn.  It holds it's shape pretty well.  Plus Garrett loves that I made it his two favorite colors: RED and Green.  But what I realized is that this hat cost me 12 dollars to make.  I could have bought him 6 winter caps for the price of this one. Oh well,  I enjoyed making it while listening to my book.  Plus it was a good activity to do while I was home sick with strep throat last week.

Birthday Celebrations Have Begun

Jeremy took me out for my birthday on Saturday.  Olivia stayed home and babysat.  He took me to
The Roof in Salt Lake.  It is a a very nice restaurant that overlooks the Salt Lake Temple.  The food is delicious.
Then  after the roof we went to see the Utah Symphony.  We wanted to try something new.   However going to the symphony made us realize how uncultured we are.  But we did enjoy listening to the music.

Garrett's Math Test

Garrett missed this one on the math test:

Josh needs exactly 26 batteries for his toys.  He can buy the batteries in packs of 3, 4, or 5.  How many packs  of each does he need?

 Garrett's Answer
6 packs of 5.   Then you have 30 with a remainder of 4 and when you need a battery because one is  dead then you have one.

Sounds logical to me.

Snow Fort

Vickie and Earl got the boys some snow blocks  makers for their birthday.  So they took the blocks and created this!  I think it is pretty amazing.  They also got some snowball makers which make perfectly round snowball.  The kids love them too.

2 more Valentine Boxes

Olivia decorated her box with tissue paper.  It took her several hours. It turned out really cute.

Garrett made his from an oatmeal container to look like a red tube from Mario.
