Devin likes to stand. He smiles and laughs when we help him up. He can't do it for very long yet, but we still think that's pretty good for an 11 week-old.
We took Devin in for his 2 month check up today. Weight: 15 lbs 1 oz Height: 24 3/4 inch
Both are in the 90th percentile.
This past week Devin had developed a cold -stuffy nose and cough. I asked the Dr. about it. It turns out that he has an ear infection and bronciolits. He was put on an antibiotic. He was not given his vaccinations. The doctor told us to come in next week when he is feeling better to get them. Plus if he isn't feeling better the Dr. wants to see him again.
We had been trying so hard to keep him healthy. Of course he gets sick the week I go back to work. That has made it extra hard to leave him with a sitter. I'm just glad that I have a good sitter for him and Garrett. That makes it just a teeny bit easier to leave them. Once again I am glad I only work part time.
Devin loves his baths! (Thanks to Kindra for lending us the tub!) We might have put a little too much water in this time. You might notice Garrett's special contribution to our video about 19 seconds in.
Also, this is what we woke up to this morning: We are SO ready for Spring.
This video shows off some cute/funny things Olivia has been up to (the second part of the video shows Olivia and Devin talking to each other).
I also took this picture back on St. Patrick's Day. Olivia wanted to catch a leprechaun and get its gold, so we made this trap. We didn't catch anything.
Devin had a onsie that said "Little Prince" on it. That gave Olivia the idea to dress up like a queen. Doesn't she look royal?
Here are some pictures of the kids. Olivia and Garrett got new church clothes for Easter. Devin is now wearing size 3-6 month clothes. That boy is growing like a weed! We love him! He is so content all the time (unless he's hungry).
I know this is going to sound really political, but I've been hearing all these things about Barack Obama and it seems like there are a lot of dots to be connected.
First dot: Barack is racist toward white people. In this video, Barack not only calls his white grandmother racist, he goes on to say that she is a "typical white person":
Could you imagine if McCain or somebody else made a comment about "typical black people"? Isn't generalizing behaviors based on race the definition of racism? That's a pretty racist thing to say.
Second, his religious beliefs are frightening. We find out he's been attending church for 20 years with a pastor who preaches "God damn America." Here's a summary of what he's been listening to:
And, I know people have the right to practice whatever religion they want, but Mitt Romney basically lost the candidacy because of his religion and Mormon leaders have never said things like this. Barack shouldn't get a free pass on this one. I just picture him sitting in that audience nodding his head and yelling "Amen" like everybody else.
Third, he is not patriotic. Here is a video of him looking smug and bored, but not saluting the flag during the national anthem:
Fourth, his wife is also anti-american. Here she is saying, "For the first time in my adult life, I have been proud of my country." This clip is great because it shows how she tries to spin it later in the day to not sound so bad.
What? The rest of the time she has been ashamed of it? This is our future first lady?
I'm adding this one late, but it's still important:
First, I like how he's going to teach his daughters "about" values and morals instead of teaching his children values and morals. Second, babies are like STDs - there to punish people who have accidents. Nice!
One of these things by itself might be explained away, but if you put them all together, I think we can get a good idea of what kind of person Barack Obama actually is. Oh I believe Barack would bring change to our country alright, but not for the better. This guy seriously scares me.
I got a call yesterday from my school district letting me know that I have been selected to be an elementary assistant principal. This is a new job in our district. Although I won't be a principal yet, I will be an actual administrator. Perhaps the most exciting part is that I will be at the school closest to our house--the same school Olivia goes to. We are really excited.
