Recycling

In Kindergarten, Garrett for Earth Day had a lesson on recycling. Well the lesson made an impact on him. So for the past year and a half he has wanted to recycle. He would ask questions like ,"How come we don't recycle?" "Where can we recycle this?" "Can we get a recycling can?" We kept putting him off. He decided to take it upon himself. He emptied the tub with shoes and started putting in paper and plastic bottles in the tub. It was his own recycling bin. We weren't sure what to do with this tub of "recycling." He knew that other people in the neighborhood recycled because of these blue cans that line our in neighborhood and kept begging us to get one too. So we gave in and called the city to get our very own blue recycling can. It arrived about two weeks ago. He is very good at reminding all of us to recycle and asks for about everything, "Can we recycle this?" He takes all the recycling to the can, took the can to the curb for the truck to pick up, and brought it back in. He takes this responsibility very seriously. He has us all now looking for recycle symbols. At first I didn't think we would recycle that much. But we actually have a lot of things that we recycle. So for the past two weeks our garbage can hasn't been overflowing.
