I got awarded for the outstanding teacher of the year this year. It was a nice surprise! My principal said some really nice things about me and awarded me for my hard work.
Here is what was written in the paper by my principal Gary Gibb:
Robin Brunner is the educational technology teacher at Alpine School District’s Springside Elementary School in Saratoga Springs.
This role gives her the opportunity to influence every child at our school as they come to her classroom or as she goes to theirs. Robin is always prepared with something engaging and useful for students to learn about in the computer lab. But she doesn’t limit her instruction to a seat in front of a screen.
Mrs. Brunner consistently looks for ways to integrate technology. You will often find her students on the floor practicing coding to program robots. In fact, if you ever have money to spend, Mrs. Brunner always has a robot she wants to buy.
This year, the school asked specialty teachers to become more engaged in integrated learning within the classroom. Mrs. Brunner and the specialty team created a schedule that allows them to go into teacher classrooms and teach lessons side by side with classroom teachers. Last week, our fifth graders were using large world maps to program robots to travel through the 13 colonies. She’s very willing to help, and makes suggestions about how she can be involved at our school.
Most of all, Mrs. Brunner loves what she does, and she loves the students she works with. She is consistently prepared and completely dependable. For Robin, there are no excuses about learning, and that includes herself. She is pleasant at all times, knows her 900 students by name and pays attention to them all. We are all impressed by her dedication to our school, and proud to honor her as an outstanding teacher at Springside Elementary.
