Diabetes Dianosis

 

So we noticed that Andi was going to the bathroom a lot, drinking tons of water and even having accidents at night.   This was concerning for me since I knew the signs of diabetes.   We checked her sugar one morning and she was 265.  We checked it at lunch and she was over 400.   We checked her several times in the next couple of days and she was always over 200.    We took her to the hospital and they diagnosed her with type 1 diabetes.   We are lucky that  caught it early.  She wasn't sick, she didn't go into DKA.  We had to spend a day in the hospital for them to give her insulin and fluids.  We now give her insulin for all of her food and we give her Lantus as her long lasting insulin.   She will have a Dr. appointment on July 8 to figure out her continued treatment.  

Her aunt, Krisit, sent her balloons and a unicorn.  Her friend, Eve, gave her some treats.   She was very brave and she is already confident in checking her own sugar.  We calculate the carbs for her and give her the insulin.   

It is so weird that we have a another type 1 diabetic in the house.  I guess we kind of know what we are doing, but it is so different with a 7 year old than a 14 year old.   We will figure it out I guess. 

Father's Day Dinner at Fujiamas

 

On the day after Father's day, we went to Fujiamas to celebrate.  This is always a fun dinner. 

Twinners

 I bought Eve and Andi matching fourth of July outfits.  Aren't they the cutest!  These two love each other so much and play together so well.   So glad Andi has someone her age there to play with.  I call Bethany my sister so these two would be cousins.  

Grandma's new massage chair and Maizie

My mom and dad got this new chair.  It was heavenly to sit in it.  It would give you a 15 minute massage.  

Maizie loved jumping on your lap and having your pet her if you were sitting in the rocking chair or on the couch. 
 

Outdoor movie

 We went to Oakhill with Bethany and her two of her kids and watched Frozen.   We got there super early to get a good spot.  We brought plenty of snacks but they had food trucks set up, so we went and got all kinds of junk food at the food trucks too, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn.   Such a fun evening!  I love these outdoor movies.

 We went and spent the day at Summersville at the lake.  This is the best lake to go to and enjoy.  The water isn't too cold.  It is nice clean beach area.  I love going with my family.  We went Emily and Thomas's Family

 We went with Grandpa to a men's church activity at Cracker Barrel in Beckley. This was the only picture I took.

Dad took Jeremy, Garrett and Devin out to Cracker Barrel for an Elder Quorum activity.   Dad didn't make it into the picture.

Free Bowling for Kids

 I took Andi Bowling with Thomas and his Family and the Carter Family.    We are diffidently not  bowlers but we had fun.   We put up the rails so no one would get gutter balls.   It was  a fun day.

 Our first day in WV we went to the Free Kids movies.  

Going to WV

 We left early Tuesday morning to fly to WV for a couple of weeks.  I love going there to visit.   Masks were still required on the the planes and in the airports.  

Early Father's Day

We are leaving for WV this week so we decided to do any Early Father's day for Jeremy.  We brought hime breakfast in bed.  We brought him a protein shake and fruit salad.  Then we had small treasure hunts for him to go and find his gifts.  He got some treasure boxes filled with treats, a game, a puzzle, and healthy snacks.   Then for dessert I made his favorite dessert, Strawberry pie with homemade whipped cream.   

Pineview

 We went to Pineview and spent the day.  It was the perfect day to be on the lake.  We took our kayaks, and floating toys, and Jenn brought her hammock.  I packed a picnic and then we went and picked up dinner at a BBQ place down the street from the lake.   We got there at 10 am and didn't get home until around 8.   The water levels were really low but we still enjoyed being in the water.   I love going to this lake.
