Devin's 2nd Grade Program
In Feb. Devin had a school performance at his school. He learned several patriotic songs. He asked if I could come. The performance was at 1:00 so I rearranged my classes and talked to the babysitter to be able to pick Andi up later and rushed to the program. He really wanted me see song number 2. Which I missed because I couldn't get there on time. Jenn was able to get there and see it though. It was a cute program and he was excited to perform.

Garrett's Winter Campout
Garrett had a winter scout overnighter last weekend and I went with him. It was a nice trip with only 5 boys and three leaders. It was an interesting experience camping on top of snow but we stayed nice and warm. Check out the pancakes we had! On Saturday, we did a little 2 mile hike up one of the trails. That wasn't very fun because we didn't have the right kind of shoes for how snowy and icy it was. We ended up slipping quite a few times.

Valentine's Day
We celebrated Valentine's Day on a Sunday this year. But we had our traditional heart pizza for dinner and Jenn brought over balloons that Andi absolutely loved. Then we had cheesecake that I picked up the day before at Kneaders.
Garrett also was asked to give his first talk on Valentine's day and you guessed it his topic was about Love your neighbor. Here is his talk:
Have you ever wanted to do Jesus a favor? Well you can do that easily. It is treating everyone as if they were Jesus.
The New Testament says, “Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” -Matthew 19:19.
Love is the most valuable thing to have in the mortal life. I think that loving one another is the best part of Valentine's Day. Here is a scripture from the New testament -John 13:34
A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
This scripture is also in an old primary son. At the very beginning of “love on another” It starts as “As I have loved you love one another; this new commandment; love one another
How did Jesus show love? Here is a few ways how he loves all men and woman
Matthew 21:14
And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
Matthew 10:8
And he heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
He did all those miracles because he loved them
Here’s a talk from President Hinckley about loving your neighbor:
“An older boy and his young companion were walking along a road which led through a field. They saw an old coat and a badly worn pair of men’s shoes by the roadside, and in the distance they saw the owner working in the field.
“The younger boy suggested that they hide the shoes, conceal themselves, and watch the perplexity on the owner’s face when he returned.
“The older boy … thought that would not be so good. He said the owner must be a very poor man. So, after talking the matter over, at his suggestion, they concluded to try another experiment. Instead of hiding the shoes, they would put a silver dollar in each one and … see what the owner did when he discovered the money. So they did that.
“Pretty soon the man returned from the field, put on his coat, slipped one foot into a shoe, felt something hard, took it out and found a silver dollar. Wonder and surprise [shone] upon his face. He looked at the dollar again and again, turned around and could see nobody, then proceeded to put on the other shoe; when to his great surprise he found another dollar. His feelings overcame him. … He knelt down and offered aloud a prayer of thanksgiving, in which he spoke of his wife being sick and helpless and his children without bread. … He fervently thanked the Lord for this bounty from unknown hands and evoked the blessing of heaven upon those who gave him this needed help.
“The boys remained [hidden] until he had gone.” They had been touched by his prayer and felt something warm within their hearts. As they left to walk down the road, one said to the other, “Don’t you have a good feeling?” (Adapted from Bryant S. Hinckley, Not by Bread Alone, Salt Lake City: Bookcraft, 1955, p. 95.)
I would like to bear my testimony…
I know that Jesus lives I hope we could love one another. I hope we can know the true feeling of Valentine’s day and that we could remember the stories of christ and I say these things in Jesus christ amen.
