Fishing

Another thing the kids love doing in WV is to go fishing at the neighbor's pond.  Someone always catches fish here.  Plus Garrett wanted to sign off the fishing things in his scout book.  I am sure glad my dad enjoys helping him do those things.

Critters,Creeks, and Treehouse

It wouldn't be a trip to West Virginia if the kids didn't find turtles, crawl-dads, lightning bugs, lizards and other animals.
We found a box turtle crossing the road.  We picked it up and brought it home.  We released it again after a few days.

Our neighbor had a miniature cow that Devin loved chasing.

Caught a lightning Bug.

Josh's Lizard Mango

Crawl Dads that they caught in the little creek by the tree house.

They also caught a salamander

Playing in the creek and at the tree house is one of their favorite things to do.  If we couldn't find them chances are they would be in the creek.

As you can see in this picture, Devin is wearing a sling.  He broke his arm, a buckle fracture when he was climbing/jumping over the dog gate.   He was supposed to have limited activity.  But that never happened, it never slowed him down.

Fourth of July

On the Fourth of July we had our annual Family Picnic. We had the picnic despite the fact that the power had been off for 5 days already because of the big wind storm on June 29th that left the entire state without power and several surrounding states as well. We had a great time and it was so fun to be with family and catch up with each others lives.

The roasted pig.  Thomas killed one of his pigs and roasted it for everyone. It turned out pretty good.

The power finally came back on Monday, July 9th.  That is a long time without power but we still had a great time and did fun things. And if I have to be anywhere where there is not power I want to be at Mom and Dads.  They are prepared for any emergency with camping gear, food storage, generators.

Plum Orchard Lake

Thomas got a boat.  We took it out on my dad's lake.  It had some technical difficulty with the engine but we still enjoyed being on the boat.  The kids especially loved jumping in even though this lake is not a swimming lake.

On the boat:

Dominque, Alex, Olivia, Zach, Garrett. Dayon, Devin, Josh, and Destiny.
Swimming in the lake: with Life Jackets of Course.

Action Shots:

Plum Orchard Lake is so pretty.
