Pumpkin Time

Instead of carving pumpkins this year we took sharpies and decorated them. These pumpkins and the few from our garden were pie pumpkins so we spent today cutting them open and cleaning out the insides and then I turned the pumpkin into puree. So now we are going to have lots of pumpkins treats. Starting with pumpkins cookies. YUM!! Not to mention that I have the seeds soaking in salt water and tomorrow I will roast them.

Halloween Fun

Yesterday we went to the Legacy Center for the annual Halloween party there. Jennifer got us in for free since she works there. They had games for the kids, trick or treating, a spook alley, a movie playing. It was a lot of fun. The kids loved winning prizes.

Here is Olivia climbing the rock wall in her costume. Garrett didn't want to try.

I am the Cat in the Hat holding the cutest baby dinosaur. He went round roaring at people.

Jere was again the mad scientist! It is such a great costume.
Garrett was supposed to be Spiderman but his costume mysteriously disappeared so he is a race car driver. A costume from a couple years ago. During the Halloween Parade he went around making motor car noises. Olivia was a vampire. Halloween is a lot of fun. We are still going to go trick or treating in our neighbor tonight.

Look Who's 9!

What's the NaNoWriMo?

You may have seen the little banner at the top right of our website. For those who are unfamiliar, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month and Robin and I are both signed up. We're each going to write a 50,000 word novel next month. We've got our ideas but we're waiting until Nov. 1st to really get started. You should join us! Wish us luck!

Trunk or Treat

We had a Trunk or Treat at the stake center tonight. It was pretty fun for the kids and we had a good time too. I thought the highlight was the guy in our ward who was passing out his old VHS collection. We got Crimson Tide and our neighbor's 5 year-old got Schindler's List. Awesome!

They Could Be Famous

Years ago, my dad forgot the name of the band They Might Be Giants. He used to call them "They Could Be Famous." Either way, Robin and I got tickets to their concert on Nov. 6th! We're excited!

Corn Maze

For a fun Saturday activity we went to a corn maze and a pumpkin patch. We had a great time. Afterward we went to Sonic and got slushes. The kids thought it was fun to be with their cousins and explore the maze.

Scaling the rocks

Near Kristi and Matt's house are these really cool rocks that you can go up to and explore. Olivia remembered doing this the last time we visited and was really excited about doing it again. We had a blast doing this. It was fun and exciting to climb the rocks. Robin went up to the rocks but she didn't do as much climbing and jumping as everyone else. Who knew that playing with rocks could be so much fun.

Dinosaur Museum

Near their house they have a nice dinosaur museum. It had some really cool exhibits. Garrett liked the earthquake simulator. Olivia loved the animatronic dinosaurs she especially loved the one that spit water at you. Devin loved playing in the water at the water table. It was really cool place.

Playing at Matt and Kristi's

For our fall break we went to Colorado to visit Kristi and Matt and their kids. We had a wonderful time. The kids loved just being able to play with each other. They especially loved playing on their play area in their backyard. We are so glad we got to visit.

Perry

I'm not quite sure where this bird came from, but it is Olivia's new favorite toy.

Clifford and Garrett

Clifford came to our school and was outside greeting the kids on Friday. He was helping to advertise the book fair. It was a fun way to start the day.
